MoJoAFRICA – more girls, more active – across Africa!
Welcome to MojoAFRICA – if you like sport or the thought of how good girls getting active can be you will love this. . . You know how energising being active can be for you or your partner, wife, daughter, sister, mum . . . well imagine how sport can energise AND empower girls in Sub Saharan Africa?
Education, Education, Education
We are translating our educational material (MoJoManuals) into a range of sub-Saharan languages – Xhosa, Zulu, Swahili and Chichewa for distribution by our partners in various ‘third world’ communities. At the same time were adapting them for local cultural/religious/hygiene and practical reasons. Girls in Africa can’t just go to a shop and buy a sports drink, yoga mat, resistance equipment . . . or even personal hygiene products – even if they had the money!
Energise & Empower
They all lack equipment for football/netball – balls, shoes, hoops and kit – but most of all they lack knowledge. Knowledge can help parents, coaches, girls and local ‘elders’ overcome the widespread antipathy to girls' sport. MoJoManuals will give them the confidence to overcome many of the issues they face to get involved in sport – and they will take that confidence into their everyday lives to become stronger and more empowered women.
Give us a High5!
The cost of a coffee & cake, a G&T or a pint & pack of crsips – all about FIVE (£5, €5, $5, ZAR100, AUS$10) will help us build esteem, confidence, wellness and community spirit by helping fund the translation, printing and distribution of 1000 copies of a MoJoManual.
